Dixo is a third-generation family business, founded in 1926 by Sol Schapiro. For the last 40 years it has been run by Sol's son Jerry, a chemical engineer who served in the U.S. Air Force, and who has worked with the U.S. Army and Navy in the area of safety management. He also is a former U.S. delegate to the International Standards Organization ( ISO ) in Geneva and vice-chairman of the board of directors of the American National Standards Institute ( ANSI ). Day-to-day operations are now handled by Jerry's son Ken, along with General Manager Persio Goris, who has worked at Dixo for over 30 years.
