I paid cash for a truck from drivewaycars. Before the transaction took place, I was told that they do not deal with the NCDMV and that I would have to handle that myself. Not a problem. I requested the title but was told that they would mail it to me. I was hesitant, but I trusted their judgement. Four weeks went by, still no title, and the 30 day plate was due to expire. I did not receive my title until week six(two weeks after the plate expired). In conclusion, After receiving my title from NCDMV and the registration for the truck from driveway(even though they told me they do not deal with NCDMV) I was told by the NCDMV that the truck needed to be inspected before I receive a plate. The truck failed inspection and I now have decorative driveway art that cannot be driven legally. This could have been avoided had they given me the title upon purchase. SC to NC do not require their first inspection for a year.

I purchased a 2009 GMC Acadia from Driveway cars on March 8, 2014. During the process of buying the vehicle it was listed at $11,900. When they gave me the contract it was for $13,900 but then also Phil told me there were bank fees (loan fees) that were split between them and the Bank. These fees inflated my loan to $17,000. I had given them $2000 down on the vehicle which left the financed amount at $15,544. The credit application said I was going to finance $12,245 after my down payment. Taken from $17,000 that leaves the so called bank fees at $4,755. I asked Go Financial (the finance company) about the fees and they stated they knew nothing about them. When I came to the dealership and spoke again with Phil he admitted that he said they had to charge those fees in order to get me financed and that the bank and they split that fee. These fees are considered business to business fees and are not supposed to be passed to the consumer. When confronted Phil said "I may have told you that but unfortunately on paper now this doesn't exist". He then said he was going to speak to the boss and sent Keith in who stated "you signed the papers so this is what you have to pay. I have this conversation on tape. I told him I would pursue a remedy through the BBB, Dept. of Consumer affairs and NADA. He said since I was going to make this a legal matter then he would not talk to me anymore. Again, I have every bit of these conversations recorded. I asked him for the paper stating the bank fees and he refused to give them to me. He continued to just say that I signed the papers and that was it.

In the papers it states the cash price of $13,900 with amount of financing to be $12,245 after my down payment until they added these fees in. How do you inflate my loan to $17,000 on a car that costs $13,900 (especially when the advertised price was $11,900)? This is thievery and bad practice when you are running a business with the claim you are helping consumers. I would like to invite you to read the article at http://gvo3.com/Archive2008/07_11_Sub_Prime_Acquisition_Fees_Being_Attached.pdf

Let's also mention the fact that the transmission is pretty much shot in this vehicle and is not worth $17,000. No bank in its right mind will re-finance this vehicle for me knowing it is not worth the loan amount.

I want my money that they knowingly took from me in what I consider to be a scam! This business is dishonest and unethical and should be shut down. I will pursue every avenue I can to get my money returned and make this right.

Driveway cars has already been caught doing this to a previous consumer based on a complaint filed 5/13/2013 with the Better Business Bureau

I had an awesome experience here! The owners made sure that they did everything to make me happy with my new car. They answered any questions I had and told me that I could come back with any problems. Great people and great car!

May 28, 2012 we bought a 2007 ...

May 28, 2012 we bought a 2007 Pontiac G6 from Rodney Bryant, the salesperson at Drivewaycars.com. When we arrived we test drove the vehicle and found the air conditioning was broken and the Service Airbag light was on. Rodney Bryant gave us a "We Owe" document valid for 30 days, promising to repair the air conditioning once his mechanic ordered the part from the dealer. After numerous return phone calls to Rodney, Gene, the general manager, and a gentleman named Bob, I still have not had my air conditioner repaired. Each time I call, I am told a variation of the following:

1. Rodney is not at his desk right now.

2. The mechanic was supposed to call you back but he has left for the day.

3. The mechanic is out until Wednesday for personal reasons.

4. The mechanic is out until Thursday because he hurt his back a few weeks ago.

5. The mechanic is out until Friday for personal reasons.

6. The owner is going to personally have the repair done and he will call you in the morning.

This is a horrible experience to have to document. I feel cheated, lied to, ignored, and stupid. I should have read reviews about them before purchasing. Be smart - stay away from Drivewaycars.com in Rock Hill, SC.

Keep you money and go somewher...

Keep you money and go somewhere else... they sold my mom a no good POS van, and my friend girl a BMW that is having issues... they will say any and everything to get you into a car (RODNEY) don't trust them what so ever!!!!!!!! My mom didn't have her van a good month before it started having issues, it started pouring oil out and she was told to bring it back so they could look at it, so we drove 30mins to Rock Hill SC only to be told that there is nothing they could do about it... the owners are rude and money hungry and none of the employees really care about their customers, We should have known better when we had to sit in the lobby for hours and hours on end and she was paying cash. Now the van is leaking some other kind of fluid its just a big headache and now she is out of 4000.00. KEEP YOUR MONEY!!!! I wouldn't trust the Indian Trail location either b/c they're owned by the same money hungry people. DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE!!!! i only gave them 1 star b/c i had no other choice if i had to rate them it they wouldn't even get a half a star that's how bad they are.
