Rock Island Parks & Recreation Department operates more than 20 sites spread over 800 acres and provides a variety of programs, including aquatic activities, recreational classes, and fitness and aerobic programs. It offers a range of youth activities that include instructions on ballet dancing, martial arts, tennis, flag football, and track and field. The department also provides classes to adults on basket weaving, dancing, horticulture, tai chi, yoga, tae kwon do and women s self-defense. Rock Island Parks & Recreation Department maintains a fitness and activity center, which features an indoor-heated swimming pool, double court gym, sauna, whirlpool and a tanning room. Its office is located in Rock Island, Ill.
