McNair Magnet School provides special programs in math, technology and science, performing and visual arts, and gifted and talented education. It has an annual enrollment of more than 490 students in grades seven and eight. McNair Magnet School is named after Dr. Ronald Ervin McNair, who was the second African-American to fly in space. The school is a member of Magnet Schools of America and has been named a magnet school of distinction. It provides coaching and training in basketball, cheerleading, and track and field. McNair Magnet School has educational and business alliances with Precision Contemporary Dance, Denny's Restaurant, That Science Store, Good2Groove Studios and The Avenue Viera.
