Provided by YP.comRay Anthracite Is Fair Enough
A law school professor once chastised me as an erstwhile law student: “don’t to confuse “What is Fair” with “The Law.” The punch line: The lawyer was a Jesuit. Ray Anthracite is just such an attorney with both a reverence for “justice” that can handle legal matters with the compassion of a devotee.
I chose Ray for his practical expertise with surveillance and surveillance technologies that could be leveraged across multiple matters. Ray possesses “triple threat” skills: expertise in information technology, a Juris doctor and a little over a decade of litigation experience.
Before court, during client intake, Ray quickly establishes a rapport with the client by explaining, in lay person’s terms, immediate and potential legal issues the client will face as well as the criminal procedure. He makes himself highly available on evenings and weekends as new facts emerge about a case.
During court, Ray posits a case from all angles: “State’s Attorney”, “Victim”, “Defendant”, “Charging Officer” and “ Judge.” Further, on the hearing day, Ray takes the time to prepare each of the players regarding the facts of the case, his legal opinion of its relative merits and his arguments and rebuttals before it is ever heard. His knowledge of criminal procedure and the peculiarities of local jurisprudence make him aware of the subtle negotiation tactics that lead to my complete acquittal.
Post court, Ray provided detailed instructions on the steps I could take to maintain a clean record and provided immediate filing assistance at a reasonable cost. While Ray was not bound to provide any further legal advice, he kindly described the specific practical steps that I could take to avoid (or defend) any future encounters.
I am impressed with all aspects of his criminal defense services. I strongly recommend that you retain Ray Anthracite.

Provided by YP.comRaymond Anthracite is a wonderful lawyer and his representation exceeded my expectations. I was going through a very emotional time and was quite devastated and he listened with a lot of patience and made me feel at ease about my case.
Raymond was very professional and knew every little detail even when my case was a bit complicated. He remained confident and very knowledgeable and my case was dismissed! I would recommend him to anyone!

Provided by YP.comI contacted Mr. Anthracite’s law office after my son received a protective order in the very early hours of 11 August 2017. We met Mr. Anthracite in his office that afternoon, with a court date that was set within days, and he got down to business the moment we sat down. He provided the pros and cons of either fighting the order or consenting to it, and my son made the decision to fight it. We provided Mr. Anthracite a background history of the parties involved, and submitted all requested documentation throughout the weekend, and when the court date arrived he was definitely prepared! He handled our case with a precise thoroughness and professionalism that could not be matched, nor denied. We truly appreciate the expertise he provided, but we also appreciate the care and concern he displayed while handling our case. We highly recommend Mr. Anthracite to anyone needing to fight an unwarranted Protective or Peace Order. Thank you for a job well done!

Provided by YP.comMr. Anthracite was an excellent lawyer. I had a very serious change against me, and he was very professional and helpful. He took care of everything, and had a very friendly vibe the whole time. He knows the judges and state attorneys very well, which I learned is very useful for a lawyer. Overall he was an excellent lawyer, which is especially necessary when you are at a bad point in your life (Facing charges). This case was over a year ago now, but I thought about it recently and decided that I should dedicate some of my time for a man that really helped me. Highly recommended!

Provided by YP.comI had a criminal charge against me which I wanted to challenge and that trial was set for a little over a month away. I also had a peace order hearing the next day. So I found this guy and I called him and he told me to bring $1,500 cash to his office so he could represent me for the criminal case. I went to his office at 6:00 in the evening and spoke to him about my case. We also arranged him to speak to the plaintiff on the next day for the peace order and told me to bring an additional $675 to the court house and he would talk to the defendant to try to negotiate dropping the restraining order. That meeting lasted an hour and he did not charge me a consulting fee. So it was a flat fee of $1500 plus $625. So that meeting ended around 7:00pm and it had to end because he had to get home.
The following morning, not even 12 hours later, I called him to withdraw. He informed me that I would only get $500 back from the $1500 or if I didn't withdraw that I would owe him $250 out of the $625 because he had to prepare for the case that morning, I called him 4 hours prior to the court hearing.. I changed my mind and told him I was going to still have him represent me but he said he wasn't going to resume my case until he got the $250.
So 2 weeks later, I called him to see if he was going to be in his office, he wasn't, so I told him I have his money and asked him if he did any work for the criminal case. He said he did not file anything and wasn't going to resume anything until he got his $250. I really didn't have his money I just wanted to see if he did any work, in fear that if I told him I am withdrawing that he said he did a ton of work to justify the $1500.
In the contract that I signed, it states that 1/4 of the fee would be an engagement fee which I wouldn't argue against, but 1/4 of $1,500 is $375 plus whatever work he did. So the 12 hours that elasped which he was probably at home sleeping cost me $625. Ok.
Basically
I paid him $1500 to represent me but I withdrew. He didn't do any work for my case, didn't represent me in court, and claims that he did work on my case at his home even though my trial was 45 days away. He won't tell me what work he did or how many hours he invested in my case, which I doubt he did much. I left his office at 7:00pm and he went home. I woke up the next morning at 6:30am and fired him as my attorney but yet I only get $500 back? The "work" that he did cost me $1000. He didn't even do anything. He seems to be very money hungry. Tread carefully with this attorney.
