Keep Looking......

I'm not the "review" type, but I like reading them so I hope this helps a prospective buyer/renter out there. We have lived here for just about 1 year and are not extremely happy with the apartment. We don't expect extreme luxury (and neither should you...else look up the road to White Flint Place or Gallery...we lived there for a year and loved it but needed to sell due to the market capping...anyhow...). Here's our pros and cons so far:

Cons

1. Property Management

-- This is by far our biggest complaint. The people working for Associa (property management company) at this location seem to be nice enough and have good personalities, but they do not follow through with much. The largest standout is lack of communication, especially when an issue is presented, even with ample time to reply. The service hours stop at 5:00pm and usually, even during business hours, I wind up leaving a message. After about 2-3 days I usually call back and ask for a status. If I actually get a live person on the phone, they act surprised that I would want a status. A fairly programmed response is: "What's your unit number again? Okay, I'll check on that and somebody will get back in touch with you soon." After another 2-3 days, I call again.......I think you see where this is going and the frustration it does cause. We dread when something breaks b/c we know we have about 1-2 weeks worth of phone tag to play before something will get fixed.

2. Price vs. Quality

-- We are paying $1,800-ish for a 2br/2ba. The appliances are a little old and you'll start to notice small deficiencies in the overall fit & finish as time goes on. None of them are major and all can be lived with, but the accumulation of the deficiencies becomes annoying. Definitely do NOT BUY for this very reason. Price for our place is somewhere around $500k or so....which will buy a townhouse or a nicer pad in the above mentioned places down the road.

3. Guest Parking

-- If you entertain, there is no parking on the weekends. Street only, and it fills ups fast. Weekdays are fine....but meters run from 7:00am - 7:00pm.

This isn't a bash session, so I'll throw in the good as well...

Pros

1. Location

-- Probably a 5 minute walk at the most to the metro and there is a Harris Teeter being built literally across the street. Not much else is close besides the Gold's Gym and a Vet right around the corner. There are plans to build more across the street though.

2. Sales Staff

-- The sales staff, unlike the property management staff, were very accommodating and willing to help. They promptly returned calls and usually had all of the information that we needed.

3. Facilities

-- The pros are that it does have a little gym (dumbells up to 50lbs, cardio equipment, and a few weight machines). The gym allows you to access it at any time with a key fob. The grounds seem to be well maintained.

4. Quiet

-- Little to no noise...except for the construction across the street.

5. Maintenance Crew

-- When a task is assigned, the job is completed very well.

Final Verdict -

Below average...I would give it a 2 out of 5 for the price. We are currently trying to break the lease, but wouldn't you know, we put in a letter of intent 6 days ago requesting a status and still haven't heard anything from the property management.

I hope this helps....best of luck to you!
