My mother had a horrible experience as a Spanish speaking client. The Spanish speaking staff was told that the reason why she as a patient had not been able to go annually was because she was unaware that someone on the staff spoke Spanish. After doing the prep for the eye exam she was left in the room with the Doctor without anyone to translate for the eye exam. She tried to communicate with the Doctor that she didn't understand and that she needed translation only for the Doctor to continue with the eye exam. It finally got to the point that my mother the patient got up and came to the waiting room and asked me to translate. The staff as well as the dr need to understand what it is to have clients that are Spanish speaking. Very disappointed

I have been a patient of Dr. Schmidlap for over 4 years now and have never encountered anything negative. Before going to any Dr. I always check with the insurance to check what it covered and what is not. Dr. Schmidlap is always thorough with his exams and I like how he really wants to know how you are doing. He explains everything,so you can understand. Michelle is truly a professional as well as the entire staff! I would totally recommend Dr. Schmidlap to everyone!

Dr. Schmidlap and his Staff are wonderful!!!! They all go out of their way to make our family feel welcome and comfortable. My husband and I are both patients at Rockwall Precision Eye Care . Dr. Schmidlap is very meticulous with his exams and makes sure you receive the correct prescription for your eyes. Both of my boys are his patients also and he is wonderful with children. He always tells them what he is going to do before he does it so they are informed and prepared during their examinations. He even saw my son on a Sunday when I thought he had pink eye. It turned out that he had developed an ulcer on his eye, which is very painful and if left untreated would have been dangerous. He was gracious and kind and spent time explaining the causes and how we were going to treat the issue. Above and beyond does not begin to describe his dedication. Thank you Dr. Schmidlap!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! I like the doctor, but his staff are clearly out to sale you the biggest and the best so they can get the commission on the sale. I have canceled my order with them on both pair of my glasses and have been waiting since Monday for a refund and it still has not happened. BUYER BEWARE ask as many questions as you can, and verify insurance benefits too. They will make you purchase things that are not necessary and LIE TO YOU WHEN YOU CALL THEM OUT ON IT... Both Raquel and Michelle never were 100% honest with me and I will never recommend them or use them again. The bad part about this is I really liked the doctor.

@ Carol clearly you have never used this Dr. both Dr. Scmidlap anyhow staff are amazing. We travel 60 miles to his office and would not consider going any where else. He is amazing with our entire family including our special needs daughter. Reviews are right on

Dr. Schmidlap and his entire staff are a joy to deal with. Everyone is so friendly and helpful every time we've come in there for exams. I use him, also my husband and son and we've all had completely wonderful experiences at Rockwall Precision Eyecare. I would recommend them to anyone !

Dr. Schmidlap is awesome! Although there are plenty of eye doctor’s between our home and Rockwall, we drive the extra distance to receive his care. My family and I have been patients of his for several years. He and his staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable. He is great with children and gives each patient as much as time needed, making him or her feel as if that is his only patient for that day. I also like having the option to purchase my eyewear right in his office. He has an assortment of frames, varying in style, design and price; offering something for everyone at a price they can afford.



I recommend Dr. Schmidlap to anyone who asks; after all, great service, great staff, great products…why go anywhere else?

I feel I get the best all around eye care at Rockwall Precision Eye Care from the time I walk in the door until I leave. Dr. Schmidlap is caring, professional, and very knowledgeable. I have always received excellent service, not only regarding eyeware, but the customer service has been prompt, professional and pleasant. I have been seeing Dr. Schmidlap for 7 years now, and can honestly say he is the BEST Doctor I have EVER seen! I live in Grapevine and drive over an hour to see him, after he was referred to me by a friend. I have astigmatism and a very strange prescription and no other Optometrist has been able to get my prescription right like Dr. Schmidlap. He is very patient with me and so friendly, and his office is very clean and nice. I'm so thankful to have found him!

It has been a long time since I've been to a doctor's office and experience true patient care. More and more often it seems patients are shuttled through doctor's offices with little regard to their humanity. We've become just another chart! This is not the case with Dr. Schmidlap's office. They take the time to make you feel comfortable and to make sure your needs are being met. Dr. Schmidlap and his team are truly a dying breed. I cannot say enough good things about Rockwall Precision Eyecare and Dr. Schmidlap. Dr. Schmidlap is extremely knowledge, and one of the most patient and caring doctors. His staff is also great, and everyone there truly works to make sure you have a great experience in their office. Also, not only does his office have a great selection of standard frames, but if you are looking for the higher end stylish frames, then his selection cannot be beat. On a scale of one to five stars I give them a six star rating.

For a pleasant experience with a doctor, go to Rockwall Precision Eyecare. Dr. Schmidlap and his staff, while being very professional, are also very warm and friendly. They are very kind and extemely caring that you have the eyecare that you need and that care extends to any future problems. When you leave Rockwall Precision Eyecare, you have glasses and/or contacts that you can see with and that are comfortable. While I hate going to any kind of doctor, I know when I go there, the wait will be short, the staff will be friendly and welcoming, and I will leave with a good feeling.

The staff was wonderful. They took great care or my wife and 7 year old daughter. Dr. Schmidlap's care and concern for my daughter was incredible. His patience and demeanor with her in the exam room was the best I've seen. The selection of frames was great and my daughter couldn't be happier. My family has been going to Dr. Schmidlap for several years now. He is very friendly and has great "bed-side manner". He gives you as much time as you need and is very detailed when answering questions that you may have. I've been to other offices that make you feel like they are trying to push you out the door. They are nothing like that, you feel like you are the only appointment of the day. He definitely knows his stuff!! I've asked questions that I figured would be too over the top and Dr. Schmidlap has always been able to answer them! I have referred several of my other family members to him and they all just love him and his staff. This office has a WONDERFUL selection of frames also. They start with just basic frames and go up from there to brands such as Coach, Juicy Couture, Kenneth Cole, Gucci and Maui Jim. I am a very indecisive person and the staff was very patient with me. I also wear contacts and they are very thorough on the contact exam. They give you pointers to make things easier and also make sure you are getting the best contacts for your lifestyle. I have no complaints AT ALL with Rockwall Precision Eyecare. Thank you Rockwall Precision Eyecare for being so wonderful!

Dr. Schmidlap's office staff was warm and welcoming when we visited the first time. He was very thorough in examining my eyes, even more important because of the fact that I have been a diabetic for 40 years. His touch was gentle and he gave me as much time as I needed to select the best vision (you know, "Which is clearer, slide 1 or slide 2?"), even though sometimes I had to look at them three times to decide! He was also patient when taking pictures of my retinas, getting the pictures without making me blink, and giving me time to recover from the flash before going on to the next step in the examination. My husband and I have been visiting Dr. Schmidlap for three years now and have never had better eyecare.

I've been seeing (pun intended) Dr. Schmidlap for years. Patient, friendly, caring service. Clean, neat, and well stocked facility, they make their own glasses so it's done right the first time. The best in the business IMHO.

The staff at Rockwall Precision Eyecare is attentive and caring. They take time to insure that you get a first rate experience. I highly recommend them.
