The City of Rome Water and Sewer Division works to provide safe drinking water to the public and operate the sewage collection systems that transport sewage to wastewater treatment plants for processing. It operates a facility that has a treatment capacity of more than15 million gallons per day. The division s treatment system involves conventional coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and filtration, chlorination, fluoridation and corrosion control. The City of Rome Water and Sewer Division is comprised of over 250 miles of water mains, storage tanks and pumping stations, as well as nearly 19,000 metered services. It is also is responsible for sewage collection systems and is comprised of more than 100 employees. The department is located in Rome, Ga.
