the world and we strive to foster that wonder by creating an environment that encourages children to imagine, build, voice questions, and creatively express their thinking. We understand that children (all of us, really!) learn through their experiences, their play. We highly encourage hands-on exploration of our environment and our materials. Combining theories from the Reggio Emilia Approach and the Creative Curriculum, we provide learning experiences based on the children's individual and group interests, establishing a meaningful and emotional connection to the current lessons. We utilize the California Preschool Learning Foundations to create a curriculum that prepares children to enter California's school system. Because of our low child:teacher ratio (6:1), we're able to individualize our curriculum, ensuring each child is progressing at their developmental level. In order to meet kindergarten readiness goals, we use observations of each child to complete a quarterly DRDP (a nationally used observational assessment tool). We place a strong emphasis on creating an environment that encourages children to work together as a community and help each other succeed. Children gain confidence and self-help skills by learning to problem-solve, brainstorm ideas, and complete projects with a peer or as a group. We strive to facilitate a community of young learners who respect themselves, their peers, adults, and their environment.
