I work at an auto shop. I know what part I need, and if possible, I describe as best I can what it is called, or what it looks like, or where it is located. I called several days ago looking for a fuel temperature sensor on a Mitsubishi SUV; I went over this AT LEAST 5 times with the parts guy (Jon Wooden AKA Woody). I was ASSURED that the part I needed (a $600+ fuel pump) had the temperature sensor on it.
When we get the part, no temp sensor to be found! Luckily, we were able to repair the original part, so we didn't have to buy a new one. However, when our owner's wife went down to return the part we didn't use, she was told there was a 15% restocking fee. This is unacceptable, as it was THEIR parts guy's fault we got the wrong part. Then, he had the audacity to tell her is was OUR fault we got the wrong part!
To top it off, he refused to give her a copy of a parts return receipt, and instead hand wrote (rather sloppily) "Mailed check Woody" on our invoice. I am not holding out much hope that we'll see a check in the near future, but they will definitely not be getting our business anymore.
