Coming from a previous employee for their art camps, DO NOT send your children here. The owner, Kim, is terribly unprofessional, and this is not a safe environment for children. She hires inexperienced art instructors off of Craig’s list to save herself money, and she’s understaffed to the point that, if I’m not mistaken, the ratio of counselors to children is illegal. In fact, she often leaves the camp alone to her employees during the day. She is highly temperamental, she favourites some students, while kicking others out left and right. She then proceeds to gossip to other parents and her employees about the personal lives of these students. The camp itself is always low on supplies, not that they are quality supplies anyway. Most of the art projects are not of quality and Kim does not allow for adequate time or much creativity. I could go on and on about the problems I experienced, but PLEASE save your money and don’t send your children here.

The Art Center for Creative Study is really a scam. It was housed in an old and empty industrial building with a few folding tables and chairs. The $50 ADDITIONAL I paid for "supplies" certainly didn't buy anything of quality. My daughter never brought home one project. The "instructor" was a high school kid who is a fine artist, but certainly not a teacher. To make matters worse, one week there was a sign on the door saying class was cancelled, then we showed up for class a couple weeks later and the building had been rented out to an electric company with no forwarding address for the classes. I left a message with my phone number to find out where the classes had been moved to, and have never received a return call. The five star ratings you find on other web sites were obviously written by the owner. They sound like a marketing piece. Stay away from the art center for creative study.

This place is TERRIBLE!!!! I took the Upholstery class and it was a joke. the Owner found someone on craigslist to teach the class and never bothered to see if he was even capable of teaching a class! I learned nothing and voiced my concern to the owner and nothing changed. I could go on for days, but will leave it at that. I was promised a refund and never received it. UNPROFESSIONAL!

BEWARE!!!

I strongly recommend against anyone sending their child to this place. The woman who runs it has a habit of pulling a Donald Trump on the kids. That is to say she'll decide someone is a "bad kid" and tell them they're kicked out in front of the rest of the class. When she called to tell me that my child wasn't welcome back, she made it a point to say that she'd kicked several other kids out as well over the course of the session. She also told me details about another camper's "baggage" and "bad home life" which seemed highly inappropriate to me. I could go on, but suffice it to say that I would recommend staying far away from ACCS.
