They are as bad as or worst than a puppy/kitten mill. My family adopted the sweetest kitten from JBAR one day after she was spayed. We adopted her on a Saturday and within 24 hours had to take her to an Emergency Animal Clinic as she had pulled out her stitches and tissue was escaping the incision . After a heavily discounted $950, this kitten has become our most expensive animal. The JBAC vet that performed the initial procedure used one continuous stitch to close her up instead of stitching each layer separately. So when she licked or chewed through the outer stitches, she unraveled the interior ones holding her abdomen together. The emergency vet (that JBAC has as the vet to go to if they are closed) had to enlarge her incision, flush out the cavity and restitch each layer. JBAR made a point of stating that they will not adopt out any pet unless it has been fixed. Obviously they are not very trusting of adoption parents even though I have previously paid to have all my animals (4 4 dogs,2 cats) fixed with the exception a cat we rescued from Peggy Adams. None of their surgeries had any complications and all six combined didn't cost me $950. All I can say is wait the additional time for the surgery to be healed before adopting an animal from this Rescue. They will not reimburse you for any expense caused by their cheap, uncaring surgery procedures.

I have visited Justin Bartlett and my experience was very wonderful. The people there are very caring for animals and do the most they can to help. It's also very affordable. This is now my favorite animal hospital and rescue and I trust them. I just wanted to share my experience with everyone so you can find the perfect place to take your pets to keep them healthy. :)

We decided we wanted to rescue a third dog and we found a beautiful female jack russell/ chihuahua mix named Onya. She was found in Miami and had some scars. You could tell she had been through a lot. Several of JBAR's fosters worked with her for months to get her to be less aggressive. We finally set up a meet and greet with our other 2 dogs one weekend at one of the adoption events. While at first we weren't sure, they spent over an hour with us off to the side until all the dogs warmed up to each other. We decided to give it a shot and are glad we did. 6 months later she is a happy member of the pack. All she needed was some love. It feels so good to rescue an animal! The application process was extensive but you can tell they really care. They even followed up several times just to see how Onya is doing. Highly recommended!

Having lost a devoted rescue dog of 15 years recently, I began my search for another faithful companion on the internet a few months later. After researching several sites, I found Justin Bartlett Rescue to be professional, thorough, and caring in every aspect of pet adoption. The application is extensive, but this proved to me how much they truly care about matching animals and people to create a life long bond. I have wholeheartedly recommended them to friends and neighbors!

Before moving to FL, my husband and I had 2 rescue dogs that died. We were ready to adopt an small Havanese. After searching the internet, I came across JBAR and was very pleased that they fostered the dogs rather than cage them. It was important for me to have a dog that was in a home because the foster parent knew the dog well. When we found our dog, my husband and I fell in love with him. We were willing to drive and hour to get him. After speaking with the foster mom, she was honest enough to let me know that she wasn't comfortable to release him, yet. We continued to talk until she felt it was ok for us to bring him home. She was a bit nervous not knowing if we knew how to handle him. When we took him home, he jump on my lap as we drove away. Both the foster mom and I knew it was a forever home for Corey.

We were aware that rescue dogs can have issues, mostly due to fear and trust. All they need is tons of love and patience, like little children. A year later, Corey is the best dog we have ever had. He is loving, funny, super smart and so obedient. He is always by our side and makes sure he knows where my husband and I are at all the times. I would recommend JBAR at a heart beat. It all start at the beginning with their love for the dogs.

My husband and I were looking to rescue. We were new to FL and joined JBAR. They found a mini schnauzer for us! She was found as a stray in Miami. She was sick and needed a few surgeries, as well as lots of love. We fostered her first. We worked closely with JBAR and got her appointments and surgeries and nursed her back to health. 2 months later she was healthy & able to be adopted and we couldn't be happier as her parents. Now 8 months later, Mila is so happy in our home. She has flourished and we love how she's fit in perfectly with us. She is a perfect fit and can't thank JBAR enough. They work tirelessly for the well being of these unfortunate animals. Thank you for finding our Mila for us and all that you do!

I adopted an English bulldog and was so glad to find out they wanted to adopt him out to someone with bulldog experience and not just give him to anyone. They were just wonderful during the entire adoption process.

We are so lucky to have two wonderful new family members from JBAR. We adopted Zoey (goldendoodle) almost a year ago and love her to pieces. We then fostered a surrender and "failed". We ended up adopting Barron (formerly Coby) and he's another sweet addition to the family. JBAR is an awesome rescue group and we love what they do! We look forward to fostering once our younger kiddos make it through training and obedience :)

Had an excellent experience with our latest adoption. I looked at the reviews and while people think they have a great house, I've seen those that 'think' and they really don't know.

I tried to adopt a dog knowing I would be a very good parent since I have had dogs my whole life and my last dog lived till 18 years. These people write to me that I would not be a good fit and good luck to me oh on New Years day no less. Not sure what this organization is trying to do but turning down more than qualified applicants is

uncalled for and quite honestly very mean spirited. I realize they are trying to protect the animals but at whose cost? I would never recommend anyone adopting from this agency.

Very happy . Adopted my girl yesterday (Gloria) and am very impressed with their operation. Everything is official and they really care about the animals. I researched them thoroughly and really like the effort they put forth to put the animals first -- even if they might ruffle a feather (human) here and there. Keep it up JBAR. Love my new girl. Thanks!

Wondering why there is no adoption fee schedule listed on your site? Also why don't fosters get a copy of the pet's medical records while fostering in case there is a medical emergency? Who is Edward Schlaack that is listed on your tax id certificate?

great rescue

Justin bartlett is a great rescue organization. I foster for them and have never had a problem. In fact I hurt my knee recently and was unable to walk the foster dog and they were very understanding and picked up the dog the next day. All dogs are spayed and neutered and flea and tick free. Animals are life long responsibilities and if you can't take care of the dog or aren't willing to put in work or money then don't get one. I adopted a dog who had skin issues and his food costs $90 a month but I would never give him back.

JBAR gave me a sick dog in January 2013. Promised via text and phone that they would cover the bills and they didn't. I recently determined that I couldn't keep Lady due to her sensitive stomach and the fact that I'm pregnant with my 3rd child. I felt like she should be in a home where they could physically walk her 10-12 times a day (with her stomach, she frequently needs to be walked this much.). I emailed JBAR asking if they had a foster home for her as that is what their contract states to do. JBAR emailed back that my family "expansion" and my financial issues (her prescription food is very VERY expensive but really does the trick for her) is not a good reason to give a dog up. We posted on Craigslist to try and find a good family. JBAR took a screen shot of the ad which contained my phone number and home address and posted it on Facebook with lies stating that they "tried to get a foster home but we wouldn't wait for one". I was never told they would try and find a foster home. I was told to foster her myself or take some discounted food. Cyber bullying at it's best. My posts were deleted so I couldn't defend myself. A REAL animal rescue would have posted a simple photo of the dog asking if anybody had a home available. Instead they turned it into drama and character defamation by posting lies, my phone number and home address. Absolutely disgusting. I would NEVER recommend a company that acts this way.
