I was baptized in this church when I was nine years old. At the time it was pastored by Rev. Robinson and I lived a the opposite end of Weber Street at 512 East Weber Street (before it was renamed for my grandmother Sarah Gertrude King Sanders). She opened the first kindergarten for Black children in Ruleville in 1952 on our front porch. One of her students, and my kindergarten and elementary school classmate Thomas Edwards would later become principal of Ruleville Centra High School which is across the street from the church, and then Superintendant of Education in Sunflower County.
