Heritage Center of Cherokee County showcases the history of the county since 1846. There are many artifacts in each exhibit area - Texas State Railroad, Rusk Penitentiary (1880s-1917), Ghost Towns - especially New Birmingham, Commerce in the county, Indians and Pioneers, Military, Education, Community, and Home Life. There are photos, music and videos to view on the smart TV. The museum is open every weekend except Thanksgiving and Christmas, New Year holidays.
