General Southern Industries is a company that makes large steel, aluminum and cement products. Its G&G Steel division makes all types of steel fabrication, specializing in industrial furnaces for the aluminum and steel industries, grinding mills and kilns for the cement and lime industries and various types of lock and dam gates for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. General Southern s Warrior River Steel division produces even larger and heavier jobs. Located on the Mulberry Fork of the Black Warrior-Tombigbee water system, it is linked to the Gulf of Mexico and the inland waterway system. With a 70-foot by 300-foot barge slip, it can load sizeable products easily with its 1,000-ton crane capacity. Situated on 167 acres in Cordova, Ala., the facility covers approximately 290,000 square feet. G&G Steel and General Southern Industries headquarters are located in Russellville, Ala.
