Our dogs have been seeing Dr Perkey since we moved to the, area in 2013. Excellent vet and staff. Recently started using their gromming service. Both my Goldens looked gorgeous after their visit. Groomer knows how to trim them up but keep the golden look.

Best vets on the planet! They are concerned with my pets (multiple cats and dogs) and with me and my family. They us by name and pet. When I have a sick pet that needs to be seen and it's Saturday morning, they find a way to see them. Been using them for 5 years now and wish we'd found them sooner.

11 Hours wasted, dogs traumatized, miscommunications everywhere

I dropped my dogs off about 8:30 and was surprised to get a phone call at 9:10 saying one of my dogs had snapped and scratched the groomer and they would be unable to groom her. Understandable, I apologized and hoped the scratch wasnt too bad. I was told that they would go ahead and do my other dog and get both their shots and an office visit for the one and they'd phone me when they were all taken care of.

Come 5:30 I call them asking about my dogs saying that I knew they closed at 6 and was worried because I had yet to get a phone call to pick them up. After being on hold for a bit, I was told they were on their way back for shots now and to go ahead and come on in. Knowing shots and visit would take longer than the 10 minutes it would take to drive there, I waited half hour before going down.

Upon my arrival I waited an additional 30 minutes before they brought my dogs out to me. One of them soaking wet. I was informed that Rio had bit the groomer and Tipsy had bit the tech and proceeded to 'flood the room with urine and feces so that I had to go out back and hose us both off." (this I was informed of no less than 6 times during my following conversation with the office staff. Guilt trip much? You work with pets, get over it.) I apologized for her wetting his pants, but I had to ask myself later when I had calmed down just how long had they forgotten my pets in the cages before my phone call to have her to go THAT much.

I inform him I had gotten a phone call NINE hours before saying TIPSY had had the issue and would not be groomed, not Rio. He then says he didnt really know, it was just what he had heard. He then told me that Tipsy (mind you, this dog is a shelter dog and has quite the issues. She's scared of her own shadow, timid as can be. She has been known to snap when scared however) LUNGED at the tech as she 'simply reached to hook a leash to her' and bit her arm. No warning, no growl, no retreat, just LUNGED. This is a fat dog. She couldnt lunge on her best days.

So then I find out that they had forgotten about my dogs, the groomers failed to put paperwork in the right slot or some such excuse and they weren't aware of anything needed doing until I had called now an Hour and a Half ago. My question at this point is....after I had called, had they gone to these two dogs left in cages for 8-9 hours at this point, dragged her out? and if so, of course she'd get defensive. I am in no way excusing her, but really, locked up all day + terrified + rushing to cover a screw up does NOT equal a well behaved dog.

I THEN find out that after 11 hours of them having my pets, that one of them STILL doesnt' have his shots, and that he'd be happy to take him back for his rabies and such. To which I have to tell him, he doesn't need rabies. ~.~ So he goes to dig out the paperwork. I tell them not to bother, I'll get it done elsewhere.

To top it all off, after I paid my bill I was told that Tipsy has tested positive for both worm tests. I take a deep breath, ask for paperwork on how to fix it and leave.

After I get home, I notice on the paperwork

Heartworm-Ehrlichia-Lyme

Fecal Parasite Test

NEGATIVE

Sooooo.....who's dog did they test? and which result is wrong? The verbal or the written?

Needless to say, I dont trust either result so that was wasted money and I will get it redone as soon as I can find another Vet. I am in NO WAY saying my dogs did no wrong, she's never EVER bitten anyone, even going to that vet in the past. Which again makes me ask what happened while she was there? As it is, she's hidden behind the couch since she got home and refuses to come out.

I haven't been there in a year and the staff they have now I have not seen before. Quite sad really, 10 years of the same vet I hate to change now, but the entire thing is completely unacceptable.
