Provided by YP.comRe: JohnnyandErin's review...
This is the second bad review we have had, likely from the same person, and likely from someone who has a personal problem with the owner. I will not address those personal problems. What I will say is that, as manager of the store, I and the rest of the staff here work very hard to make sure that Action Military Surplus is like going into any other successful retail store, in that you have a clean, family-friendly environment with friendly, knowledgeable staff. There are 20+ reviews on other sites that agree, and only one or two (including JohnnyandErin's) that feel otherwise.
The reviewer points out that the owner charges high prices for items made in China-- in reality, I do most of the pricing, and roughly half of the items in the store are American made. I would be happy to show anybody that comes in. The way businesses work is that you pay X amount of dollars for a certain product and mark it up Y percent in order to cover things like payroll, bills, and additional merchandise. With the items we get from outside companies (most of them made in China), I personally set the prices on almost everything as close to MAP pricing as possible. When we buy gear and uniforms off the street from vets coming in the door, they are not bringing in items made in China-- they are bringing in military-issue, US-made products. Again, I personally set the prices on those items and when I do, I base everything on a rough average of what you would pay on eBay for a like item. Part of the reason that many types of businesses like military surplus stores are closing down is because of the fact that you can go on eBay and pay somebody in China pennies on the dollar for merchandise that you would normally go to a local surplus for.
As for the numerous references to Lisa and Auburn Army/Navy-- flat out, she went out of business for a reason. It's a shame if the previous reviewer doesn't come back; if he did, I would personally see to it that he and his family have a great shopping experience. Like I said, the staff and I work extremely hard and do our very best to make sure everybody that comes in wants to come back.
Thanks,
Nick

Provided by YP.comThis store sucks! The customer service is the pits! The owner is very rude, charges high prices on items made in china! Hard to find the parking lot. I will say I will never go in there again. Says he gives military discounts didn't believe me. All he does is walk away chewi g his finger(want some salt with that). The employees used to work at my favorite army navy store, auburn army navy, shame to see Lisa go. Her customer service(being the owner) was great. Hey owner of action mil surplus, you should have taken notes from Lisa, she ALWAYS asked how I was and talked to my wife and I. Oh yeah don't bring your kids in action mil surplus, he hates kids and woman. Lisa NEVER treated us like this. My new favorite store is general surplus. Barry is a wonderful guy! He's pleasant to talk to and bends over backwards for you! That's my new fav store. NEVER again going to action mil surplus, stay away
