Provided by YP.comI have to say that I was very disappointed with how my time was wasted tring to buy a motorcycle here. I called in as I was traveling back to Florida from North Carolina. I had looked at a 2011 Kawasaki Vaquero there in black and wanted to buy one but closer to home. I called this dealership and confirmed they had one in stock with 0 miles. The next day I made my offer and it was accepted. We reviewed the deal over the phone one more time and I reconfirmed the bike was new with 0 miles. The salesman confirmed and I departed from Jacksonville to St. Augustine to complete the purchase. After arriving, I was surprised that the bike was not at the dealership like they had promised it would be all ready to go. This was a cash deal and I was really a very easy customer and sale for them.
The bike finally arrived on a trailer and it was dirty and obvious the bike had been ridden quite a bit. There were numerous scratches on the bike and I checked the speedometer and it had 134 miles on it. I was shocked!
I had wasted my time negotiating on a bike that was being represented as brand new with zero miles but somehow had been used by one of the dealership staff. I told the dealership that I expected to purchase a new bike not a used bike and their defense was that it was never titled. Well 134 miles is a lot of use for a new bike. I only buy new and I have 6 motorcycles so I know what I am doing. I feel the first hundred miles on a bike are very important and in this case I had no idea how those first 134 miles were ridden on the bike.
The dealership wanted to proceed with the deal like it was a new bike, and I disagreed because of the very noticeable scratches and mileage on the bike. I suggested that if they remove $500.00 of the price, I would continue with the purchase. The boldly declined. My complete experience there was as if I was a burden to the dealership and their staff. I feel strongly about NEW IS NEW AND USED IS USED. Bottom line! There is nothing that states a bike that is not titled is new. If so, then I guess I could not title one of my new bikes, ride it for a year and then trade it in as new. That is essentially what they were trying to do. The bike is a 2011 model so already one year old.
Anyway, my point is that I was wanting to buy this bagger for going to bike week the following day. Since I spent my complete day waiting for this bike and then surprisingly finding out it was not a zero mile bike like advertised, I missed the opportunity to follow up on another lead I was working on.
Very disappointing experience!
I must add that many people request advice from me since I have many bikes and experience. When I make a purchase somewhere, there are always additional purchases made by my friends or colleagues looking to purchase because of my recommendation. On the same note, my friends and colleagues stay away from the places that I dont recommend. This is one dealership that I will not be able to recommend.
I have explained in detail what has happened and I think many potential buyers would feel the same way I do about the 134 miles. I think $500.00 off the deal price was a reasonable request, instead I was treated like some kind of cheap unrespectable unserious buyer by their finance manager who decided to involve himself in this transaction. Please remember as I stated earlier, this was a cash deal.
