Provided by YP.com"First, do no harm." That's the oath I thought doctors lived by, but apparently at Orthopaedic Associates of St. Augustine (OASA), it's "First, make some money." I contacted this group almost 2 weeks ago for physical therapy (PT) on a finger that has been hurting since May as the result of an accident. It took me a while at Mayo to work through the diagnostic process, but after myriad appointments and an x-ray and MRI, my Mayo orthopedist wrote an order for PT and suggested I find a certified hand therapist, which I did at OASA. I clearly explained to the OASA phone representative that I had already been through the diagnostic process and only needed PT. She set me up for an appointment that was to take place today. I can't tell you how excited I was this morning to know that I would finally find some help and relief! I arrived at 8:50, went upstairs to PT, but was told to go downstairs to the clinic. After waiting several minutes downstairs, I was given copious amounts of paperwork and at around 9:20, was finally escorted to a patient room, only to find that I would have to go through their diagnostic process before receiving PT! I told them I had a doctor's diagnostic report in hand and was never told over the phone that I would have to go through the OASA diagnostic process. I also explained that I had taken the morning off of work AND wasted nearly 2 weeks during which I could have found relief had I been directed properly. The office manager acknowledged their error and apologized, but said they couldn't see me. This very much feels like a bait and switch. Shame on you, OASA, for providing misinformation; for not treating me with care and compassion; and for going after the dollar instead of doing the right thing when you were at fault. I will never seek the help of your practice again and will warn everyone I can about how you do business. Shame on you!

Provided by YP.comHe yelled at his staff (about me) while I was in a room waiting to see him. He wanted to know why I was there!!! I had a W/C case and he didn't like that W/C was not approving treatment fast enough (But that was not my fault and I needed his help to try to move things along) I spoke to him and he said he was only mad at W/C and not to take it personal. But when the time came for my next scheduled appt- he had his staff call me to cancel about 5 minutes before my appt...I was in the parking lot and he was refusing to see me! When it came time to rate my injuries for my W/C case, he would not provide a rating to my attorney but he provided one to the insurance company's attorney. He told me when I first started seeing him not to worry that he would take care of me and that he didn't work for W/C...but it turned out that he turned his anger at the slowness of the W/C company against me and it only hurt me. I would not recommend seeing him. (Dr Volk is a VERY nice and a great Doctor and he was very helpful--but he apparently could not control Haycook's actions) I was seeing Dr Volk for knee and Dr Haycook for back injuries.
