The Occupational Therapy Department at St. Helena Hospital provides services to inpatients, outpatients and transitional care patients, as well as home care patients. Typical treatments include enhancement of fine motor skills, safety training in self-care, hand rehabilitation, work conservation and practical application of body mechanics. Patients may require occupational therapy for a variety of health problems, including orthopedic problems, cardiac problems, or injuries resulting from cumulative trauma or due to a neurological disease. Staff from occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language therapy work closely together to provide patients with the best treatment to meet their specific needs.
