Provided by YP.comTook my beloved 12 year old retriever to Dr. Horton because of her rapidly declining health. We thought the end was near and were heart broken. The vet said "we aren't done here, she's not done, lets see what a blood test will show us", but she didn't examine my dog. She sent us home with pain meds (receptionist didn't know how to administer) and said she'd call. Later that day we got the call that went exactly like this: she needs iron, we can fix that... low white count, we can fix that . . .low electrolytes, we can fix that . . .good liver and kidneys . . .high calcium, that could be cancer of the anal glands. Who leads with hope and ends with cancer? The vet said to wait a day, see how she does and check back in to see what we do next. I called early on the check in day and left the message that she was vomiting and wouldn't eat. Three hours later I still had not heard from Dr. Horton, so I called back. I had to retell the morning message. She put me on hold to talk to the vet who was in surgery.
Dr. Horton's response through her receptionist: "Sorry I didn't call, but there is nothing else we can do for her. You'll have to call another vet/specialist."
When I asked about what we were going to do to end her suffering I was told we could drop her off and the doctor would do it at the end of the day, but we couldn't be there. If we wanted to be with her, we would have to wait 4 days for an appointment. Or we could go to another vet.
Dr. Horton's indifference reflected her lack of both compassion and professionalism. We will not trust her with our other pets, but will take her advise to "go to a another vet".
BTW The next vet said she saw no indication of anal gland cancer, but the blood work and my dog's failing health were indicative of some kind of cancer. She actually examined my dog and she wasn't a specialist. She gave me the assurance I'd been seeking . . . it was time for our loving companion to be relieved of her pain and suffering.

WE Just Love This Clinic And Dr. Horton. She Is So good With annimals! Our Little Cockapoo Jessie Went to Her for many Years And He Got Real sick And Dr. Horton Took Such Good Care Of Him While He Was There On An Emergency. Found Out On Some tests Jessie Had An Enlarged Heart And some Other Problems And He Was also 12 Years Old But She Suggested Taking Him To A Heart Vet And They Gave Him Some Special Meds To Help Get Rid Of the Fluid But When We Got Him Home About 10 Min Later His Heart Stopped And He died! :( Oh This Was So Hard!! But She Was Great. We Now Have A New Little Cockapoo Puppy And He Just Got Chipped And Neutered And He Loves Her. Jessie Loved Her Also. We Will continue Going To Dr Horton With Our Little Buddy Boy. She Is A great Vet! And Very Reasonable In Price! I Would Reccomend Her To Anyone. Lucky To Have A good Caring Vet For Our Baby.Mike And colleen P (And Buddy To) ;)

So I am very familiar with this place and the horrible things they do...not only is the doctor rude and insentative but the office manager, who is also the vets husband, is a verbally abusive jerk. I witnessed him yelling at the vet before our appointment with her and then she came up and was very disgruntled and rude during our appointment. He yells at the poor girls at the front desk and they never have any products to sell, according to the employees, its because of him. Don't go there, doubt they will be open much longer with how they treat their return customers.

I called this place and asked simple pricing questions and couldn't get a straight answer out of the girl who answered the phone. She seemed pretty annoyed that I would have the gall to even call them. I would assume if you want to stay in business in this economy you would be nice and helpful prostective clients, magnetized not how this office in particular feels. Glad I called around and discovered that other vet offices in the area are happy to answer my questions and eager to accept my business.

Super responsive and understanding vet and staff! I have a very "special" beagle with a seizure disorder who has gotten exceptional care from Dr Horton and her staff for many years. I have taken my pets to this clinic for 11 years with only good experiences!

I have had 4 dogs and one cat all go through Dr. Horton's office & have been happy with the service from the very beginning. The staff was always friendly & helpful & would work me into the schedule if something was seriously wrong with one of my animals. Dr. Horton was always great and made even my most nervous dog feel at ease. I'm sad that I moved too far away to have St Helen's Vet Clinic as my pet's primary care provider!

I have two mini Dachshunds, Dapper Dan and Sandra Dee. St Helens Vet Clinic is always available to answer my questions and Help my furry little friends. We have all our regular check ups and have had to have emergency care for them after a camping trip when they dined on little fishes that washed up on the beach. I don't like the much the cost of treatment but if it were more I would pay more to have loving care of my pets.

I was very disapointed in this office ona few occasions. The doctor is very nice, but the staff is rude and unfriendly. There were several occasions that we have valled in and they are just so insensitive to the needs. One of them told my father "Good Luck in that" when he was trying to find someone to help him right away with his dog that was dying. Many times have called in and nurses give you the push off as if they don't care. Very disappointed in this service! And after speaking to several around the city MANY others are VERY disappointed as well and will never return there.
