Bad Customer Service

I reserved two canoes through Buffalo River Outfitters nearly a week ahead of time. The same day that I rented them I had to cancel them for an unfortunate reason. Even though they still had 5 days to rent these two canoes out; they still made me pay my cancellation fee. I realizie that their cancellation policy is listed on their website, and they have the right to enforce it. However, they had already said that they were completely booked, so I am sure that renting my two, cancelled reservations, would have been no problem and no loss to them. This is bad customer service. I did not intend for them to lose any money, and I am sure that they didn't. It was not a last minute cancellation. I did lose money, and they capitilized on my misfortune.

Fun floating

We rented 4 canoes in July 2009. Friendly service throughout experience. A driver loaded all canoes, drove us to the put-in spot, unloaded all canoes, and picked us up after the float was over. All we did was float the river and have fun. Restrooms and changing area available, but no showers for after floating.

Buffalo River Outfitters is located in the "middle region" of the Buffalo River. The "upper region" is too low to float in the summer and is primarily used in the spring. The "middle" remains high enough for canoes, but not rafts in the summer. They had the option for 6 or 10 mile float trips. Cost was $50 per canoe plus $6/person for shuttle service. This was comparable to other canoe rentals I researched in the area.
