Founded in 1982, the Heartland Foundation is a public charity that helps in the development of community for children and adults. It has partnerships with the Center for Citizenship and Democracy, St. James School, Corporation for National and Community Service and Northwest Missouri State University. The charity offers nutrition education, as well as opportunities to participate in various physical fitness activities. The Heartland Foundation conducts a prevention program for youths that tobacco-free environment. The charity operates Missouri Cattlemen's Children's Fund to help children with physical disabilities. It has a staff of executive assistants, resource directors, project and plant managers and coordinators. The Heartland Foundation is located in St. Joseph, Mo.
