Founded by Drs. Vacharee and Andrew Peterson, Community Dental Care was one of the first private clinics in the Twin Cities that focused primarily on serving low-income and minority patients. To ensure continued access of high quality dental care for the large number of our patients enrolled in public programs, the clinic was incorporated into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in August 2004 and began serving patients as a nonprofit in January 2005. In May 2008, CDentC opened its second clinic location in Maplewood. In December 2012, a third location was opened in Rochester. On January 13, 2014, Community Dental Care opened its fourth location in Robbinsdale. Today, with 49 full operatories and a staff of 190, we provide dental services to over 31,500 patients annually.

LOVE this clinic and the staff. Was pleasantly surprised by how attentive my dentist is to my needs and their ability to squeeze me in when I had a crisis. LOVE my dentist there!

The front staff is very friendly, so are the dentists/dental assitants. I love the hours. What left a bad taste in my mouth is how they handle financials. My child had a tooth infection and needed a couple other baby teeth pulled. I was in the area with him for support. I was stuck in a little corner, there's a dentist looking him over and a dental assistant when some girl came in and started asking me for payment. I barely had room to move. I told her it's like she came in to break my legs if I didn't pay her at that second. It can't wait until ALL services are rendered? until i have personal space to get up? that should be handled either when i walk in or when i leave, definitely NOT during.

With very poor insurance, my d...

With very poor insurance, my dental care was extremely limited for many years. As a result, I had to endure years not-so-great care from the Sm*le C*nt*r whose clinics had a literal monopoly on dental services for people such as myself with very limited resources. The quality of care I received at these former clinics was very disappointing and actually made me fearful of even going to the dentist.

Recently an friend made me aware of COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE in Maplewood and she had many positive things to say about her experiences. With a pressing dental emergency, I contacted COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE and was most surprised that their clinic was sympathetic to my emergency and scheduled me "immediately' to address my emergency.... and did so even though I was a new patient whom they had never seen before.

My first impressions of COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE were very positive. The atmosphere was very friendly and everyone from the front desk to the staff were extremely kind and very polite and treated me like a person. They addressed my dental emergency competently and were very friendly in answering my questions and easing my concerns. I was VERY happy with the treatment I received.

When I later scheduled for an exam for a few weeks later, I was contacted by COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE just the day prior to my appointment and was informed that I would be required to self-pay for this exam "in cash" as apparently my insurance provider was under the mistaken impression that I had already used my insurance's allotted (once every five year exam) with the previously-named clinic (which was inaccurate).

I conveyed my great disappointment concerning this new development to the receptionist at COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE and explained that an error had been made and that my former had obviously billed me for services they NEVER provided. The COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE receptionist was very understanding, but did not know what could be done... and that I would still need to "self-pay" for such an exam (which I could afford) Understandably, I was MOST disappointed after this call. However, within 5-minutes the receptionist called me back and informed me that she had spoken to her supervisor and they were willing to wave this "self-pay" on a one-time basis.

I really appreciate the COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE in Maplewood. They actually stand by their mission statement and sincerely care about their patients, and show the proper respect and dignity for their patients. Unlike another dental care provider (that shall remain nameless) COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE cares about each patient individual and never reduces their patients to assembly-line dentistry with an emphasis on quantity versus quality.

Being treated like a person means so much and I cannot say enough about COMMUNITY DENTAL CARE in Maplewood. I'm very happy.

Upsell

The hygenist was trying to high pressure sell me a "deep cleaning" . Actually was refusing to clean my teeth unless I agreed to this very expensive cleaning. After I insisted she clean my teeth did a poor job only hitting my teeth with the high pressure water, no use of instraments and no polishing, which I am used to with most dentists.
