The Lands and Minerals Division is a part the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which is governed by the States of Minnesota. The division manages mineral exploration and mine development operations on state-owned and tax-forfeited properties. It also monitors exploratory drilling processes on state and private land. The Lands and Minerals Division s transactions section is responsible for handling and completing land acquisitions, exchanges and sales. The section also has expertise in matters concerning land and water crossing licenses and easements. In addition, it develops and compiles geologic information for mineral exploration companies. The Lands and Minerals Division organizes educational workshops that focus on various topics, such as general geology, mineland reclamation, and rock and mineral identification and
