I started at Kinney Karate in the fall of 1998 and it was one of the best decisions of my life! I trained there until Aug 2003 when I joined the Army. The skills I learned at Kinney Karate absolutely helped my Army career! The self-defense skills helped, but also the confidence to stand in front of my peers and fellow students significantly helped me when I began leading small teams in the Army. Now I lead larger groups across my battalion. 16 years later, I still deeply miss Kinney Karate. With all those great skills and attributes I gained from Kinney Karate, I miss the friendships that were forged with the instructors and students. The camaraderie I had with everyone there equaled that of the camaraderie I had with some of my Army teams! When I talked about my friends at Kinney Karate, I would describe us as an ABC school special because we were all ages, nationalities, and cultures. We accepted everyone for who they were, which meant everyone accepted me for who I was. Through are the training and progressing, I was loved, encouraged, and mentored by many. My reality was that the martial art training was only 50% of my experience. The other 50% was the extremely positive relationships I had (and still have) with Kinney Karate.

My kids love Kinney Karate! They can't wait for class each week. This program has made a huge difference in many parts of their life. Thanks to the great instructors for caring!
