The Seneca Nation of Indians (SNI) is a tribe of the Iroquois Confederacy, which occupies aboriginal lands that are set aside by the Treaty of Canandaigua of 1794 in New York. The tribe has a population of more than 7,200 members. It maintains engineering, health, justice, recreation and environmental protection departments. The Seneca Nation of Indians Seneca Nation Education Department provides language and culture services to the Ongwehoweh Community. The department coordinates educational services and programs within the department. It offers preschool programs for over 200 children and their families annually.
