Provided by YP.comDay Heating is one of the worst service companies I've ever had to deal with. I had an air conditioner installed in 2007 with the promise that it would serve me well for the next 15-20 years with little maintenance. The following year (almost exactly) it stopped working. Day Heating sent a serviceman out who diagnosed the problem as a lack of refrigerant but could not locate the leak. They offered to come out again (at my expense), but I refused to pay again if they could not fix it. I was charged $330 for new refrigerant and the initial service call.
Again, in 2009, the A/C unit experienced the same problem. I had to threaten Day Heating with calling another company to get them to come out and look at the problem immediately. They spent 5-6 hours and had 4-5 servicemen working to find the leak, which they finally located in a solder on the unit itself. Okay, faulty unit. I understand...they filled the refrigerant again and all was well, right? Since the leak was on the unit, the manufacturer would compensate them for their time and also my expenses for both years.
Or so I expected, until I got the $680 bill! I refused to pay for it and have demanded my first year's expense back as well. They have tried to talk me into lowering the bill, or for partial payment, which I have refused. When I asked about their shoddy service abilities, they protested with "it was just a pinhole" and "it was a lot of hard, complicated work." This from professionals?!
No way - this company is terrible and so is their customer service! Never hire Day Heating!
Day Heating installed the customers system on 8/11/06. As with all of our proposals, we state the warranties in detail to delineate in advance who is responsible for future repair costs if and when they are needed. The system came with a one year parts and labor warranty, and four additional year’s factory parts warranty on the air conditioner. The first request for service was received 5/15/08, nearly two years after installation and outside the labor warranty period. We found the unit low on refrigerant, performed a leak search, and recharged the unit with refrigerant. Due to the size and location of the leak, it was not able to be detected at this point. The second request for service was received 7/20/09, almost three years after installation. The call came at a time when we were experiencing an extended heat wave in Salem (average of 87 degrees for the week and 92 that day). Even though we had received many calls prior to this call, we did our best to accommodate the customers demand for immediate service. After an extensive search, the leakage point was located in a factory weld deep within the unit. Since the factory parts warranty would only apply if the coil was replaced (Bryant’s policy), and since replacement of the coil would take two to three times the amount of labor versus the repair, we felt it was in the customers best interest to simply repair the leak. The final invoice for the leak repair was $354.47. This matter was taken before the Better Business Bureau in 2009. It was found that Day Heating followed the warranty statements given in the original contract and had treated the customer with fairness and integrity, so the Better Business Bureau closed the complaint and considered the matter resolved.
