Founded in 1983, Find the Children is a nonprofit corporation that works to recover missing children and to prevent their abuse and endangerment. The organization assists families, and provides them with access to local and federal law enforcement agencies, counsels them on appropriate legal documents, and connects them with other nonprofit organizations and community resources. Find the Children educates parents on child safety, and works closely in coordination with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The organization additionally publishes missing children's pictures in several newspapers and periodicals. It is supported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
