lack of warmth/humanity

I really like the owner of Gov Cup, and I enjoy the coffee. I walk several blocks to get a good cup of coffee (passing Starbucks, et al). However, the girls at the counter, including this morning, need to either figure out how to treat their customers -- regardless of race, color, creed, female, etc., -- or for goodness' sakes, they have no business working there or anywhere that requires genuine good treatment of customers. Kevin: chuck 'em!

Down Home Attitude Adjustment

I go to Gov Cup whenever I am in Salem. The barista's are super friendly, but not fake. The regulars are missed by the baristas if they miss a day.(How Friendly is That?) The customers range from street people to college students, business people and the old people who do their crosswords together...oh, and joggers - lots of joggers. I sometimes got a coffee-contact-high just walking in the door when they would roast their coffee in the shop. Their espresso roast 'Attitude Adjustment" is my favorite roast ANYWHERE! (And I live in Seattle) They were also the first coffee house that I ever went to that charged for Americano's by the amount of shots and not by the cup size.

The decor is kind of 'your parent's basement' strewn with caffine related paraphernalia and the sofas were a little thrashed, but that added to the charm.
