I love living at the Riverwalk, convenient location to many things as well as close to nature. The kids love the activities the office plans every few months as well!

By far the worst management in South West Virginia!!!!!!! I lived there for over 5 years and requested a rental reference and they give me a bad one and also added coments. While I lived there my car was broken into and the police was there at least 3 times a week people fighting every evening! I would never ever live there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with the person who says that the police were called in the complex on a woman and her children for fighting as well as other domestic issues. I have personally seen the police dealing with these issues. There was a point where the police were called on this woman atleast once a month for about three months. I have talked with management about the issue and they said "these people will be out at the end of the month." The end of the month is fast approaching and their still here. On top of that if the police were to patrol around more they would see drug deals going on right in the hallway of the building my family and I will soon be leaving. This place is also not child friendly, you cannot have really anything on the patio and everything has to be "uniform." If you are a family trying to find a good place to live, I suggest trying to buy a home. Again, glad my family and I are moving somewhere else.

I liked my time I lived at Riverwalk. I worked and lived there and know the type of people that got kicked out of the place. In fact I was their during the time that the poster below posted about. The previous management let everyone under the sun live there and didn't fix diddly squat. They sucked. Then the new owners came in and got rid of the people who couldn't pay their rent or failed to understand how to live in a community like normal people. Basically, the people that shouldn't have been let in because their credit was too poor, but was let in because the previous owners were trying to "pad" their numbers so they could sell the place at a higher rate. When the new owners did their background check, certain people didn't pass normal credit ratings, etc. So those people were not allowed to renew their leases. They never should have been allowed to lease in the first place. So the property got a great face lift and about over a hundred apartments got rehabbed interiors (contrary to the poster below). PS Google is responsible for the pictures, not the folks at the Riverwalk. And now we know why some people aren't living there anymore, lol.

dont live here

I've lived here for a year with 2 kids... Simply put, I hate it, the first management lied, and never wanted to fix anything, so when we got new management I thought things would be better... WRONG... They lie to your face to make you leave them alone, and they are constantly trying to make the outsides look better, while not even bothering to do anything to the interior. On top of that, my two neighbors and myself have gotten letters saying our lease will not be renewed, with no explanation given, and when asked, always the same answer "that's another persons decision, I don't know" I highly do not recommend ever living here. They have a banner at their office saying "Voted best in Salem". What a joke. And the Google street view is from ages ago, they don't have that many trees, and the ones they do have are small, except a few, in the back. Oh, and to top it off, there is a homeless guy living under the bridge right beside the "nature trail" which on another note, is riddled with trash. And don't forget, you aren't even allowed children's toys on your own patio, nor trash cans, or to top it all off, my neighbor got a letter saying they had to.remove their 18month olds' shoes off theirs. This place is like a prison sometimes. Don't ever, ever live here.

I give 2 stars, and here's my opinion why.

I have lived here over 2 years and I am not at all impressed with the Riverwalk at Salem. People blast their music in the parking lot while sitting in their cars listening to music I particularly don't think my little children should hear! The lack of respect boggles my mind. Yes, there is a park for the children to play, but they prefer to throw footballs and such over mine and other tenants parked vehicles in the parking lot. (In one day I witnessed mine and 4 other cars hit with a football) Also I'm sure all buildings are differant but the one I'm in is full of rude, mean, inconsiderate "neighbors" (there's more mean than nice) slamming doors shaking the apartment building at all hours of the day. (mainly around 3 in the morning??) There are fights out in the parking lot, women beaters mainly, but ya gotta love the people screaming and arguing from balcony to balcony. I've called the police several times, there was a fight in my hallway, someone got beat up against the wall and MY DOOR! I had just had my infant a few months before, I remember struggling to get her down that night, it was late and then all this craziness happened outside my door. It is very ridiculous that you can't walk up to the river without the fear of stepping in dog feces. They supply little bags and designated areas with trash cans so no, that shouldn't be a problem, but of course tenants are too lazy to pick up after their pets. Duh! Last but not least, the Riverwalk had went up on our rent at our last lease renewing. And plenty of people told me they go up at each one! I'd hope there's only so many times they'd do that, but I won't stick around to find out. I love having a washer and dryer but there has to be somewhere else. I can't take the ghetto anymore!! Like I said before though, there are so many buildings I'm sure others have a great living experience. This is just my opinion on how I see things living here.

Thank you for posting your review on Yellow Pages, we appreciate your concern for your community here at Riverwalk at Salem. We would like to help you with your questions and handle your complaints. We strive to make our community a family friendly environment and sometimes we need the help of our residents to inform us of certain situations so we can better serve you. With that being said, we are confused on a few situations you mentioned in your review. You said that you "called the police several times" for fighting. When police are called we get a report, but we haven't received any police reports for fighting, so we are wondering what happened with those situations. Our leasing rates are very competitive for Salem/Roanoke and we feel we offer a great place to call home, especially for the quality of living we offer. We highly disagree that Riverwalk At Salem is "ghetto" and we encourage you to contact us and communicate with us on how we can make your home a better place. Thank you.

Three stars is what I'm giving Riverwalk because it's a good place to live. It's nothing luxurious, but then again it's not the slums. I have a small pet so that's cool. The people are nice here, both the employees and my neighbors. I think most people would like living here.

Finally, an affordable place to live in Salem! We are so thrilled to live in this area. I could go on and on about the riverwalk apartments, but my favorite is a washer AND dryer in my home!!! You can't find a place that has that included, so that, literally, saves me HOURS each week of laundry mats and hassle (especially in the winter)! If anything that makes my apartment a "keeper" it would be the washer and dryer. SOOOOO happy about that:)

CAUTION: To much nature on thi...

There is a beautiful river to go fishing on (but I've seen the game warden out there, so bring your license too!), however, don't go expecting to catch anything too big on the river! My two rugrats love the little playground and the pool. My only knock is people not picking up their dog poop. Heck, they have those little doggie trash bins with trash bags! My opinion, if it matters, go fish, go play with your kids and enjoy your apt. Enjoy life while you're at it too.

yo. Solid place to live bro. Parking is a cinch, right outside my door. i live on the first floor in a brand new unit that was remodeled by the new owners. New washer/dryer, stove, fridge, carpet and kitchen sink. I open up my patio door, bam, right on the running trail. Trail has some over grown spots, but still a nice run. Work out room, that's, well, kinda weak, but it's nice when the weather blows. No free weights, but oh well. that what dumbbeels are for. the workers are cool. The place was overhauled, like that tv show, like 2 yrs ago or somethingholla. holla. (the review says "If I told my best friends about this place, I'd say... so that's what I'd say.)
