The Roanoke County Sheriff's Office is a nationally accredited agency located in Salem, Va. It has more than 120 sworn and civilian employees who serve a population of over 88,000 people. The agency features a civil division that maintains order in the courtrooms, carries out the judgments imposed by the courts and processes all civil papers in a timely manner. The Roanoke County Sheriff's Office supports several community-based projects. It also operates a home electronic monitoring program that provides an alternative to incarceration for sentenced individuals who meet mandated screening requirements.
