Tarheel Challenge Academy focuses on improving the life coping skills and employment potential of high school dropouts. The organization administers a quasi-military program and is sponsored by the North Carolina National Guard. Tarheel Challenge Academy training program is conducted through a residential phase and post-residential mentoring. It also prepares cadets for GED testing. The organization has assisted more than 2,800 students. Tarheel Challenge Academy also coordinates the Career Readiness Certificate Program, which provides job skills to cadets.
