G'Syl was started by Sylvia who use to work at DZANN but then opened her own salon down the street (South Main). Sylvia has been doing my hair since i was a little kid. I live out of town (4 hours away) but still come home to Salinas to get my hair cut and colored by Sylvia. The new salon is cute, comfortable, clean, and professional. The staff is fun and friendly. Sylvia has a ton of experience and knows all the newest hair styles and colors....as do most of the people who work there. My only advice it to book in advance. It's unlikely to call in and get an apointment (with Sylvia) that same week. She is often booked 3 to 4 weeks in advance. I also reccommend George or Frankie!

It is small and tucked away but worth going to. The staff is professional and friendly and willing to work with any requests you have. The decor makes for a warm atmosphere without losing the "spa" aspect. I really enjoy having my hair done there. Ask for Caroline Grice, shes the best! She especially good with hot, new styles.
