We have used Bekins for many moves, Sugar House merged with Bekins so we chose to use them. I had them come out for a estimate and decided they would be the company that would move my family. They gave me an estimate and told me to call before that actual move because we may have parsed down the contents of the home by the time we actually moved and the bid could be less. I called last week and scheduled with the VP to come to my home and re-bid it because we had sold, given away, thrown away 1/3 of the home's contents and wanted to have it re-bid. The representative (Vice President) came to my home and re-bid the home and increased the price by 25%, when I asked the logical question as to why the increase because we had reduced the homes contents by over 1/3, I was given a very vague and avoiding reasons. When I pushed the question, he was all over the place from the weather was hotter now to now he thinks the home would take more time then when he estimated in the first place. When I again said that we had reduced the home by 1/3 and that now he was looking at less to move then he saw before he bristled and said that if I did not like the bid he would remove us from the list.... This is 4 days before our move! This escalation was all over my valid question to why the price increase when the home had less to move. I felt like I was bullied because he knew that we had limited time to organize another company for the move and he had the upper hand. I thought about it that night and came up with a wonderful solution that I hope all who read this post will look into so that they are not faced with the same problem that we had.Log into http://www.uhaul.comRent your truck / trucks and they give you another option to hire local companies that provide help to move you at a FRACTION of the cost and will treat you with respect. I wish that I had found this option in advance and that we had not had the interaction with Sugar House Moving and being treated the way we were.I would also recommend Rocky Mountain Movers as they would have been another excellent choice but they could not work me in.All the man had to say was.... I am sorry, I must have estimated incorrectly and worked a solution out without telling me that if I did not like the price he would take me off the list because he had many others that wanted that time slot.Do your homework and ask the questions and get things in writing with this company. When crunch time comes he knows that you are in a pinch and will probably go with his increased bids because you have no other choice.I had colleagues in the car with me when this conversation took place via speaker phone and they were appalled by the way he spoke to me. It was as if he had more business than he could handle and it was a privilege for me to work with them. I have tried to write this without being angry (which I am) but also write this in a way that it gives others information to use when dealing with this company. The way this was handled and the way the VP reacted to my question to the price increase should cause pause for someone to think about.I can tell you that this company does not do business like Bekins that we have used in three previous moves.

Increased estimate question handled unprofessionally

excellent experience

WE recently moved from SLC to Park City. These movers were fabulous. I worked with Robin in the office to arrange the move and she was very professional and helpful. The movers arrived on time and worked straight through for 8 hours taking only two short breaks. They charged the time when they arrived not when they left their office and ended when they finished unloading the truck. They protected all the furniture and the flooring in my new house. I would highly recommend this group to anyone scheduling a local move.

Overall Fantastic

I planned to use them just for the heavy furniture because I could easily move the cartons. When they showed up with a huge truck I figured they had plenty of room to take the stuff I haven't gotten to. They were quick and efficient and I would highly recommend them, because they were flexible with my needs and my stuff was handled with care.
