About a year ago, I visited the Mill Creek Cafe for breakfast on a day off from work. The service was slow. When the food arrived the first time, the hash browns were undercooked. After I sent it back and the waitress returned with it the second time, the hash browns were better, but the rest of the meal was cold. Add to this the price - $9.00 for a couple of eggs and hashbrowns (there might have been meat too, I don't remember) and it was not an enjoyable dining experience. I vowed never to return.

However, as time goes on, memory fades or maybe you have a change of heart. Today, as I was returning to work from the Post Office, I decided to give Mill Creek Cafe another try for a quick lunch. I ordered beef stew, which the waitress informed me was "just made yesterday and is still pretty fresh." Again the service was slow - I mean how long should it take to ladle out a bowl of stew? When it was brought to my table, it looked like a mound of set-up Cream of Wheat or, you know, that white, sausage gravy that they some places serve with biscuits and gravy? In a word - GELATENOUS! With chunks of tough beef and a few potatoes and carrots. It tasted like it contained at least half its weight in flour. I've never had Beef Stew like that before, ever! I could see it if you were in a third world country and needed to stretch every ounce of protein just to subsist that you might make it like that. The pieste de resistance was a curled up piece of metal shaving that looked like it came off a can opener, which sent nerve endings into hyper alert when it came into contact with my molar filling.

I got up, complained to the waitress (not pulling any punches) and said: "Let's just act like this never happened and call it good". As I began to leave, she made a point of telling me that it wasn't her fault – Typical Utahn comment, which means I have learned over the course of my lifetime to never take responsibility for anything uncomfortable!
