The staff in the store was Awesome, this was my first time visiting the store. FINALLY made it to the back of the store and was super excited to try wine, so i very excitedly asked.... What kind of wine do you have? The man/troll behind the counter said well what do you like?? I said sweets and he said i don't have that and retreated to his hole!! Absolutely ignored me... i asked for a tastings. And he said i don't have anything you'll like. Obviously, didn't want to make a sale. They lost out on 4 of us purchasing!! Big loss! We typically travel in groups but we'll go to cristoval wineries where they appreciate their customers!!

I should have come here before the mall!

I shopped at Eggemeyer's today and can see why strollers are not allowed (most of the aisles are narrow) and kids should not be running amok. Although not in a tacky way, this store is packed with great quality (& fragile)merchandise: Statues, glass jars of various eats, vases-etc. Most of the "toys" on the shelf are unboxed ('real toys') and I can envision curious kids being kids...and creating a mess and/or damage.

This is NOT 'Targit' or WallyWorld where the mass produced merchandise is overly packaged for rough-handling. This store is a throwback to the genuine "General Store" days. A wide variety of fine merchandise and a staff that actually cares you are there and know their business.

What ever you do, DON'T VISIT

This was my second time in. We were in for the first time 3 years ago and loved the store. We came down for July 4th and the first thing I said was I want to visit Eggemeyer's. Right when we walked in we were glared at because we had kids. We were followed at the time. We thought he was a pedophile but it was the owner. I confronted him and told we had control of our kids. I was told that my 16 year old son was touching something as we were speaking. I said if you don't want kids to touch toys why sell them. And then we were suggested to leave.I will never go back in there again and I suggest that if your in downtown San Angelo do not go in, you will be treated like a thief.

Rude, terrible service and hateful!

When family came in from out of town, we told them about the store and thought we would go and shop for of the unique items that they offer. Our group consisted of 4 adults, our 4 children that we watch carefully. My cousin and I have have managed retail for over a decade each and know how to watch our children in a retail environment. however apparently the owner, a grumpy older man, stalked us through the entire store mumbling rude comments. After we told him that we were watching our kids and would make sure they were careful, he made a few more rude comments and so we walked out. I will never recommend this store again especially after reading the other comments that all say the same thing about how rude Mr. Eggemeyer is to his patrons. I will never spend another dollar in that store again.

Rude and hateful!

I've been in this store quite a few times and always recommend it to friends and family that come from out of town. NEVER again! The last time I went in with my daughter and granddaughter we were treated horribly! There is a sign on the door that says no strollers so we left the stroller in the car. Then we were told that we had to carry my granddaughter the whole time because they didn't want her "touching or grabbing anything". We were in the toy section at the time!! When I told him (the owner, apparently) that she was fine and that we wouldn't let her hurt anything he literally followed us around the whole store mumbling rude things until I finally got fed up with being treated like that and loudly stated that I was planning on buying something until I was treated as if I were going to steal something or ravage the store. I will NEVER recommend anyone go to this store again and I will NEVER spend another dollar in this place!
