The first time I visited Eddie's, I had a superb experience. The barber was welcoming, kind, and he gave me an excellent fade. I was beyond pleased with the service and I even tipped him nearly what I paid for the haircut itself! As I was leaving, he even told me to come back again if I planned on keeping my hair short. I fully intended to do so. I even raved about the service to my co-workers (we work at an office close by) and recommended the shop to several of my contemporaries.

A few months later, I came to Eddie's on my lunch hour with the intent of getting another haircut. The barber was finishing up on a patron and no one else was in the shop. Rather than being greeted with a "hello," I was given a look and asked if I was waiting for someone. Caught off guard, I replied that I was there to get my hair cut. He blatantly told me, "I don't cut ladies' hair."

1. I'm a pre-op trans gentleman, not a "lady." That didn't even bother me though. My biggest peeve was that...

2. My hair was SUPER short, like a shaggy Caesar haircut. I obviously was NOT patronizing the business in hopes of getting hair extensions, a perm, or with the intent of asking to look like Julia Roberts.

I felt a bit embarrassed at this point and was at a loss for words. He then told me that someone else would be arriving to the shop in 30 minutes, someone who did cut "ladies" hair. I was on my lunch hour and didn't have time, nor did I wish to wait in the shop after I was "greeted" that way. I kindly thanked him and left the shop.

I don't understand what changed so suddenly. When I first went to the shop, I even expressed that I was apprehensive about the possibility of being turned away. He put those qualms at ease and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. We talked sports the entire time and there was no discussion about my gender.

Needless to say, that was the last time I ever stepped foot in there and I've been careful to advise others of what occurred on my last visit.

Not the best, nor the worse

I just got my haircut and based on reviews I went to judge for myself. The place isn't bad and Eddie and his partner are very sociable. I went it to get a simple one all the way around with it squared in the back. Well I got my one haircut but the lady tapered my back. To me it doesn't matter since I don't look at the back of my neck. I just think the price is not worth it. I think I'll go back to my Eastside barbers where the haircut is 15 and they can have the 5 as a tip because they do an exceptional job. Hell one time I was offered a beer when they were about to shut it down.

Very cozy relaxed environment....

Cozy relaxed environment. Very nice television on the wall. Less than "comfy" chair for my neck during a hot towel shave.

The shave itself was enjoyable, certainly did a great job on the hot towel part. However, my sideburns were uneven, and there was still some areas I would prefer had more attention. Also, he had the television on local news that ended up clashing his politics with mine. So maybe if you are a conservative you would fit in here. If you are a healthy open minded liberal, maybe not so much.

Eddie seemed like a great guy to talk to, but I will certainly try another location locally before I return promptly to spend the $$ again. It was $16 for a haircut, and $20 for a hot towel shave.

I've been going here for over 22 years. I started going here when I first moved to San Antonio and have never wanted to go elsewhere. In all my years Eddie has never let me down. Super friendly man, great person that takes care of his business and clients. This is a traditional barbershop with affordable prices that provides awesome service.

We took our son here for his v...

We took our son here for his very first haircut after hearing about it from a friend. Such a good experience, Eddie went above and beyond what I had expected! Eddie starts by playing with our son and making sure he isn t scared of him. He gives him high fives, plays with his toes and talks to him like he must be a father himself. The cutting starts and Eddie is nice enough to make sure to save some hair for Mommy. Eddie then breaks out the clippers and I get a little worried, he lets Jackson touch them with his hands so he gets used to the vibrating and then just uses them to get a nice line on his sideburns and his neck line. Eddie then goes back in the back to get the certificate of babies first haircut and some tape to attach the lock of hair. We will definitely return here and it will now be the place my husband gets his haircut too. Only reason for 4 stars was it could have been cleaner, lots of hair on the floor.

New to town,saw Eddie's barber...

New to town, saw Eddie's barber shop while eatting at el jaro. The owner Eddie took on the task of fixing the last cut. Ed did something amazing,he not only fixt the cut,and only did what I asked. Unlike other shop's that take it apon themselves to change my focal point.

Too small a place! Cartoons on very loud. Felt like I was in a daycare.

To small? What do you want;a hair cut. Or to dance! The reason the cartoons where to loud is because a little angel desided the conversations where to loud.
