Provided by YP.comI'm sure every project is different, and mine may have been "simple" to complete, but I had a 1940 Ford 4-cyl block rebuilt with an extensive/complete kit several years ago, the job took 2 weeks as-expected, and not a single problem has cropped up. Wayne was friendly enough.

Provided by YP.comThis place is a joke. Two months ago I took an engine and head to be remanufactured in this place. I still don't have the engine back. I could have used a hand file and finished it faster. I called and asked them what's up with the engine and they tell me that Wayne isn't there and will call me back. Never happened. My customer is beyond pissed off at me because of this place. I live in a small town right outside SA and my reputation as a mechanic WAS flawless in my town. This place has cost me business and money and I still don't have that dam engine. It has gotten so out of control that I'm going to have to majorly discount this job. Thx Wayne for jacking with my livelyhood. I'll be there Monday to get that dam engine finished or not.
After going back to get the engine that had only been taken apart and cleaned and left in a corner after two months I was treated badly by Wayne. After saying I was disappointed that their shop turned out to be not what they said it would. He said "Whatever, I'm not going to be chewed out by you". I have never seen a shop so poorly kept. It took them an hour to find all the parts. The only thing they knew for sure where it was is the block and head. That was the most unprofessional and disappointing experience I have ever had in 25 years of fixing cars. If I pulled something like that on a customer my reputation would be destroyed and I would be workless. I will repair the damage they did to my small town rep but I'll have to give the customer the job at parts price only. Dozens of hours of pay down the drain along with the added time of fixing their screw up. I'll spend money to repair a car. We all know how nice it is to pay to work.
Update: after retrieving the engine I took it to another machine shop. When I took it to Miller's it was a running functional block. It needed the head rebuilt mostly and I decided to have the cylinders honed and everything cleaned up nice and new while I had the engine out. Well after they cleaned the block they set it in a corner and allowed the cylinders to rust. Now a simple ball honing isn't going to work without me replacing the pistons. After calling them back to see if we can resolve this and Wayne arguing and telling me the engine was running with rusty cylinders he hung up on me. So in hindsight save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else. It dam sure isn't worth that kind of hassle and then total disregard after they screw up. This is the worst machine shop in Texas.

Provided by YP.comI recently had brought a Chevy 350 block in for wash, hone cyl, cam bearings, polish crank and valve job..I take my parts to the back go back to counter in front to get price Wayne goes back to look and come back in 30 sec and says he is not sure he can just polish crank but dose not tell me why just shook his head and said it dont look good.(it had no rod knock or marks when I brought it)Wayne calls and says crank needs grinding because it had an odd size bearing..He couldn't tell me that when he looked at it the first time?( I ck with mic b4 I gave to him and was within spec)Mad that was there 2 weeks already I asked how much and its $200 more than original quote. I asked why and Wayne said" I SOUNDED like someone that left parts and owed him $$" and he was tacking it on.I have NEVER called or been there B4..OK job continues and $ goes back to original quote +grind.Pick up parts when done in 4 long weeks and he says( good luck with that ) HMM ok.Noticed rear cam bearing oil hole was not aligned and covered he said" that's fine"...called 7 other machine shops and they said thats wrong I fixed it myself put motor together drove it 4 blocks and I hear rod knock at 3000 rpm. Pulled motor and ck crank with mic and 1 connecting rod spot on crank was ground a bit smaller than the rest.Wayne did say "GOOD LUCK WITH THAT" when I picked it up..Honest mistake or sabotage because he thought I was someone else?Never been there b4 and will never go back. That is bad biz either way

Provided by YP.comThese professionals have not only machined a number of engines for me, but guided me in the right direction to determine the appropriate parts to install in all applications. Wayne is the Master Encyclopedia for engine & parts knowledge and building/rebuilding/applications experience. He KNOWS what works and what doesn't. And he's able to convey that knowledge with gentle finesse. What you do with it is then up to you. But if you pay attention and listen, then apply, you'll not go wrong. And the two young men working for/with him are completely professional in conduct and performance. Well done - - - again - and - again... Even when you need to know something on the phone.
