The department s tactical support division responds to all critical incidents and special events and provides traffic control services. The San Antonio Police Department operates a more than 165-acre training academy that features a firing range and physical training area, and hosts numerous internal seminars on hostage negotiations, family violence counseling, crime prevention and bicycle patrol proficiency. Located in San Antonio, the department also operates a volunteer program that provides an opportunity for San Antonio citizens to become involved in police services and activities.
