Collegiate Silver is owned and operated by Waddie CrazyHorse. CrazyHorse served as a silversmithing apprentice to his father during the summer breaks in middle school and high school; there, he learned many mechanical and hand-wrought techniques through observation and experimented with a hybrid of contemporary and traditional Native American motifs in his jewelry designs. 

CrazyHorse pursued his bachelors degree in Native American Studies from Stanford University and was involved in numerous leadership positions on campus. Upon graduation, Waddie was unsure what direction he should take in life: pursue the Native American art industry and work out of his home studio in New Mexico or find employment in the Bay Area, the place he grew to love. Waddie realized that he could get the best of both worlds and decided to develop his own silversmithing business in the Bay Area.
