Went to san remo despite previ...

Went to san remo despite previous warnings and found that the place is just plain bad. i overlooked previous reviews of this restaurant willing to give it a try and i am sad to say a lot of it was just like the reviews i had heard or seen. the restaurant tries its best to jam as many people into a small establishment as possible and those who don't fit inside are sent outside crammed onto the sidewalk. Service was not great and the prices were a bit high. The manager / owner? was yelling at his staff and treating the customers in a brash way. If there ever was a soup nazi of italian food this man would be him. the food was nothing great as well, its food we make at home for much less and in a nicer atmosphere. As we were sitting one person said they had heard of a person getting sick at this place as well. Overall a not so great night having not so great food. Yeah it was a night out on the town but I'd look to dine elsewhere, there are many other place to enjoy and life is too short to eat at such a place. Sorry San Remo, just because you have been doing pizza for a long time it does not mean you are doing it better than everyone else. You are banking on your history to get customers when you should spend more on quality and service.

Good place for NY Style slices

If you want to grab a quick slice of pizza, this is a good place. It's definitely "NY-style" or I'd call it "NY-Lite." Not quite the real thing but a decent rendition.

Discriminates Against Children!

I live in San Carlos and had some friends from Menlo Park come visit on 9/2/07. We had heard San Remo Pizzeria and Ristorante was good, so we headed downtown to enjoy some dinner. Between our two families we had a party of 9, 5 of whom were children. Upon asking for a table, the hostess went back into the kitchen and returned to tell us that they didn't have any tables for a party of our size. Walking past several tables that could easily accommodate us, and I headed to the back to speak with the owner. He said that he didn't serve parties with that many children any longer! I stood there in shock, not believing what I was hearing. I walked out of the restaurant with my one-year old son in my arms blown away at the stupidity. As I walked out, passing several large parties enjoying dinner outside, I just felt sad for the owner's outlook on life. If you support the family, I encourage you not to patronize this business.
