The mission of Balboa Veterinary Hospital is to provide excellent veterinary care, taking both the pet's and the client's needs into account. We believe the key to our success is communication between client, vet and staff. Our focus is on personal service. Because of this, our clients come to us from as far away as Escondido and Ensenada, Mexico. Our hospital is centrally located in Kearny Mesa, a part of San Diego in California. When Balboa Veterinary Hospital opened in 1968 the mesa around it was filled with deer. Dr Alexander has owned and practiced at the hospital since 1983.

Seems every single time I bring my dog here they sell me on something different than what he needs. I take him in for a broken toe nail, they only address his skin issue. When the appointment was made specifically for the toe nail. Previously I came in for a shot to help with my dogs skin and they up-sold me on about 3 other things. Both my dogs are in their prime and don’t need all the access treatments/charges. Why can’t this place simply address the specific issues their customers make appointments for? It seems they are never on the same page as the dog owner. I’m currently looking for a better vet that doesn’t manipulate their customers for unnecessary up-charges/procedures.

They are awesome and very friendly! By far the nicest vet we've been to in the area. They will now be our permanent vet. And they aren't expensive! Im going to recommend them to everyone!
