Provided by YP.comI was visiting an African Art shop a few doors away and noticed Café Bleu for the first time. The interior looked attractive and well-laid out and the sample menu in the window seemed imaginative and reasonably priced.
Now, over the years of much eating out, I have developed the belief that there is more money wasted on eating lousy food in restaurants than anything else in the world. Consequently, I tend to stick to places that I have tried and liked and rarely want to experiment with new places on my dime.
I discussed the restaurant with my wife who unlike me is game to try anything new. After my usual prevaricating we booked and arrived around 6.15 to discover that we weren’t the only early eaters. Cheerful greetings from staff and almost immediately there was a server, Shaun, at our table making us feel welcomed and comfortable.
Skipping the starters I ordered hanger steak and my wife a hamburger and a glass of wine each. After a reasonable wait, the food arrived nicely presented. After just one mouthful my wife proclaimed that her burger was delicious, she offered me a taste and I concurred. In turn I found my steak cooked to a perfect medium rare with tasty string fries. We shared a desert, a delicious crepe concoction, again nicely conceived and presented. The bill including wine was very reasonable indeed.
I can now add this restaurant to my very short list of good value for money. I highly recommend it. We’ll be going again very soon.
