The California Fish and Game Department maintains native fish, wildlife, plant species and natural communities for their intrinsic and ecological value and their benefits to people. The department issues hunting and fishing licenses and provides hunter and wildlife education classes. The department was founded in 1870 and is located in Sacramento, Calif.
