Matthew Meunier, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery to treat a variety of conditions, including fractures and dislocations, shoulder injuries, chronic wrist pain, and congenital hand disorders. He is one of the regions top hand injury experts and serves as associate team physician for the San Diego Padres.As director of the Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship program at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Meunier oversees the programs efforts in clinical and academic excellence, and trains fellows in all aspects of clinical hand and upper extremity surgery. He is also a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.Dr. Meunier completed a fellowship in hand surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Meunier earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and surgery of the hand. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Meunier has served as a consultant physician for the Chargers.In college, Dr. Meunier played competitive rugby and squash. He enjoys staying active through running, cycling and surfing.
