Shawn Harrity, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine doctor. She provides primary care for adults, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. Dr. Harrity has repeatedly been named a Top Doc" in San Diego Magazines Physicians of Exceptional Excellence" annual survey performed in collaboration with the San Diego County Medical Society.Dr. Harrity previously worked in the Owen Clinic at UC San Diego Health for many years, providing care to patients with HIV/AIDS. She continues to see patients with HIV/AIDS in her primary care practice.She has held numerous leadership positions within UC San Diego undergraduate and graduate medical education programs including internal medicine residency program director for 13 years. Her primary educational focus presently is the design and refinement of the clinical foundations course for the first and second year medical students, a part of the recently re-formulated integrated science curriculum at the School of Medicine. As a clinical professor of medicine, she is involved in training medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine.Dr. Harrity completed her residency training and earned her medical degree at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She also has a masters degree in medical education from University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. She is board-certified in internal medicine.Dr. Harrity is a San Diego native.
