Businesses have an opportunity to shine when they have to confront adverse circumstances. I was hoping to write a raving review about Simply Cleaner and how they handled an unfortunate circumstance that occurred when I had received my shirts back for them with a small tear in the same spot on three of my new shirts. When I confronted them on the damage, they first tried to blame the store where I purchased them by stating the pins that the stores use frequently cause the small tears. I went back to the store and asked them about it and they showed me where the pins were placed on their shirts and it was obvious that all of their shirts had pins placed in the same position, none of which were where my tears were located. Because of the damage, I had to replace all three shirts and it cost me over two hundred dollars. I went back to Simply Cleaner and requested that the owner call me and work out terms to make me whole on my loss. I didn’t care if it was a $10 credit over sixteen months. I just wanted to be made whole for my loss that was caused by his business. David, the coward of an owner, was apparently too afraid to call me back, but gave me a credit of $40 for my $200 loss. I told them that this wasn’t adequate and I would not be back unless he made me whole. I requested once again that owner call me to discuss the circumstances. He never called me back. I returned 8 months later and told the clerk that I was disappointed that I never heard from the owner and that he should at least call me to discuss what happened. Under the right circumstances, I would like to return my business to them. I wear suits 5 days per week and always professionally launder my shirts, so there would be plenty of future business of offset their loss in making me whole. I, respectfully, articulated that I believe that businesses should operate with integrity and moral fortitude. Otherwise, I can’t continue doing business with them. I gave the clerk my business card and once again requested a call from the owner. Upon a return visit, I was told that the owner, David, was refusing to return my call and felt that his previous $40 credit was sufficient. Well, David, it’s not. In my opinion, you are a coward. You lack integrity and you are morally insufficient. Out of principle, I encourage everyone to boycott businesses that are incapable of doing the right thing. Simply Cleaner is one of these businesses.
