Stephanie Lessig, MD, is a board-certified neurologist with UC San Diego Health and the VA San Diego Healthcare System. She regularly sees people with Parkinsons disease and other movement disorders, such as dystonia and ataxia. Dr. Lessig specializes in both deep brain stimulation and the administration of botulinum toxin.She is involved in both basic research and clinical trials, with a clinical research focus on Parkinsons disease and Parkinsonian disorders. Dr. Lessig is a principal investigator on four clinical trials, two of which are funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Her general research interests include neurodegenerative disorders, such as Huntingtons disease. Dr. Lessig earned her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine. She was a neurology resident and chief resident at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also completed her fellowship.She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, and American Society for Experimental NeuroTherapeutics.
