Founded in 2001, Citizen Film is a not-for-profit production company specializing in producing character driven documentary stories. Based in San Francisco, Calif., it collaborates with cultural institutions, community organizations and independent media producers to offer various films and online media. Its collaborations have featured on television along with several prestigious venues for independent films, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art, New York and others. Citizen Film offers documentaries across categories, such as disability, social justice, environment, art and culture and more. Additionally, it offers internship programs for participation in various stages of the documentary process. Some of its films include Asian Women's Shelter, National Center for Lesbian Rights and Children's Book Press, among others.
